Jim71GTO
All I can add is stay away from the OCZ 533 PC4200. I have yet to get it to perform very well. Maybe it's because of my CPU and can only hit a 3.5Ghz OC.
Raptor
Ballistix 3200 is great @ 2-2-2-8 ... but my Corsair XMS 3200C2 Plat works very good too @ 2-3-3-6 both love voltage also
DragunLadee
I have had a chance to use all the RAM you list D/L and I have found the HyperX very lacking, corsair are hit and miss. But, as far as the Balistix and OCZ, toss a coin, except, you could get better OCZ than 8-3-3-3. X_C So how about this? Any good? http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-146-845&depa=
crossfire
the ram i listed is what i have in my computer, it's pc 3200, but ive run it up to 245mhz with 7-3-3-2.5 timings the ballistix ive got wont do much over 210mhz with the same timings, some people have good luck with it, i guess i was one of the ones that didnt.. OneCool
I wouldnt worrie about the ram...I just seen that you have 1 gig pc3200 now I say build the rig and put your ram that you have now in there and see how it does..never know it may preform good and you wont have to get new ram....just a thought tho
betterdan
yes the ram will run at the slower speed, just one thing, is that case how it came? if so then why has it got a p4 sticker if its an amd64? Hehe I didn't actually take a pic of mine, I just used a pic off the web. Mine looks exactly like that except for the P4 sticker is replaced by an AMD one. Good catch. OceanV47
Sounds Good DragunLadee! I guess you are tired of going slow! Don't blame you! If I could I would go with the fastest and the best also, especially with 64bit applications right around the corner, you will already have a head start. Intell is lagging! Jakeofalltrades
Here's a old post of mine indicating the difference between a P4 and an Athlon 64, both running on systems with the same hardware. Take a look... oh relly well come hook my desktop up man so it can run like the laptop i just broughtP4 3.4GHz System (Compliments of flewpastu) http://www.pcpitstop.com/techexpress.asp?id=SZ6U9WGPBBRSXKX7 Athlon 64 2.8GHz System (Compliments of ManiaK) http://www.pcpitstop.com/techexpress.asp?id=DF4U9WGG33RSF677 Both of these systems have the exact same hardware specs except for CPU. The Athlon 64 system in this example has a CPU speed lower by 600MHz, and more programs running simultaneously. Still, the P4 system doesn't touch it! ...hope this helps! Why spend another $300 if I don't have to. I could use that money for another hdd to set up the raid. Been meaning to do that anyway.

ManiaK
Yeah I've been looking at all the pc4000 stuff. I'm having a tough time deciding between the Ballistix, Crucial XMS, Kingston HyperX, and the OCZ. I'd stay away from the Kingston Hyper X... I'm using 2 512 sticks of the PC4000 and it's truly more trouble than it's worth. I finally found some comfortable settings but it sure did take a LOT of time to do so. OneCool
I could use that money for another hdd to set up the raid. Been meaning to do that anyway. Yep another WD 160 sata.... Now a big question....what kind of power supply is that 450 in your sig?
DragunLadee
Yep another WD 160 sata.... Now a big question....what kind of power supply is that 450 in your sig? Actually it's a diablotek w/led fan...I got it with the diablotek demon II case. I'm thinkin I definitely need to get a new psu tho. What d'ya think? I believe this is it, only without the second fan or the sata connectors. I had to use adapters. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...39&Sku=D15-1001 And yes, another wd 160 sata was just what I was thinkin.
