mariol90
still crappy, but improved by 5s: 47s @ 2.42 GHz (this is actually more stable than running at 2.4 GHz). going to run 3dmark now.

Vranichou
Important thins to know with the MSI Neo 2: THe .5 multis do not work. They drop the multi to the next integer value and raise the HTT (FSB) So if you ar setting your BIOS to 175 with 9.5 multi, you are actually setting it to 290 w/ 9 multi. Use CoreCenter to check on this compared to CPU-Z. -=Vran=-
AdamMAXIS
Hey Vranichou, do you lower the Hyper Transport bus at all? For example.. From 5x(2000 MHz) to 4x(1600 MHz).
Vranichou
Yes. Htt to 200: 5x; 201 - 250: 4x; 251 and above (until I get 333) 3x. -=Vran=-
OneCool
Why are you guys running your HTT at 5 (2000mhz)...I thought only VIA supported htt 2000...looks like it would hurt more than help

mariol90
the PSU has one fan, in the back. the CPU has a 4000rpm 60mm fan which is extremely quiet for its speed video card has a 40mm fan the case has a 80mm side fan at 2500rpm i ran this at 2.2 GHz once. it was stable, thats all i know. hey you changed the smileys :| it was this: then you changed it Edited November 15, 2004 by mariol90

ManiaK
If that's just a regular XP, that 60mm fan isn't gonna cut it. Even if you buy a semi-cheap heatsink/fan combo, you'd do better than that thing. I first used a coolermaster aero and it took my temps down considerably. Then, I used that heatsink with a tornado and they went down dramatically again. But stably, 2.2 is probably about as far as it's gonna go with the stock stuff... Is the multiplier locked on it? If not, then possibly you could get a bit more, but not much.
mariol90
reg. XP no multiplier lock, it'll go from 5x to 18x, and the FSB will go from 100 MHz to 300 MHz (200-600 DDR). I'll try 2.4 on it also, we still need to put the arctic silver 5 on it. i'll do that whenever i feel like it, since this computer is only used for the internet and music, it doesnt really need it. edit: either i didnt set something right on the mobo or the multiplier is locked. i set it to 12x200, its running at 2.2 GHz. i set the multiplier to random things, with a 100 MHz FSB, it runs at 1.1 GHz. boo. :[ it pooped out or something, the mobo was trying to "recover the bios", so i reset it. i figured out that an easier way instead of going through all that trouble is after the video card is detected, press the DEL key.
