Hi, I was referred by one of our members to do this. I think this is how its done.

Hi Real_Oldies :)

Please go to Add/Remove Programs and remove Paltalk, if there.

 

Rescan with HJT...close browser/explorer windows, check these items then click 'fix checked':

Reboot into safe mode:

Restart the computer

Immediately begin tapping the <F8> key.

Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press the <Enter> key.

 

Show Hidden Files and Folders

Click Start.

Open My Computer.

Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.

Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.

Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types

Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.

Click Yes to confirm.

Click OK.

 

Search for and delete:

 

C:\Program Files\Paltalk <--folder

 

Reboot/restart your computer, go into Internet Options - General tab. Delete temporary internet files, and choose to delete all Offline content. Also, go to Start - Find - Files or folders - in the named box, type: *.tmp and choose Edit - select all - File - delete. Empty the contents of the C:\Windows\temp folder and C:\temp folder, if you have one. Empty Recycle bin, clear history and cookies.

Hmm, I don't see a problem...why do you think you goofed up? Did you reboot and empty your temps? Did you tell SpywareGuard and Spybot TeaTimer to allow the changes?

I think that did the trick. :) I ran Pandas and Trend Micro, no viruses found. I also ran the AVG scan that gave me the most trouble when showingthese viruses, and now it says I'm clean. Looks like norton was right, as everytime I ran a sscan therre it came up ok even on safe mode. Thanks for the help Jacee and the pheonicks...Great Job indeed.

Set a new restore point now that you're clean:

 

Turn off System Restore.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.

Click Properties.

Click the System Restore tab.

Check Turn off System Restore.

Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot.

Turn ON System Restore.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.

Click Properties.

Click the System Restore tab.

UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.

Click Apply, and then click OK.
