I tried PC-Cillin with disastrous results. When I did an on-line scan at Panda, it found a bunch of viruses im both my and my wife's saved email. Supposedly, PC-Cillin was scanning that email and it was up to date. I now use AVG and not only does my computer run alot faster (particularly on the internet) but AVG does not take up alot of resources. So far, so good with AVG.

I was going to write my own response, but I'll just vote for Stasi's and save some time.

I'd have to agree... "Safe Computing" is the only way to fly. Rather you have an AV program or not.

I don't run an AV program never did and never will. Safe computing practices will do much more for you then any AV software ever will.

That's got to be the best advice I've seen in a long time!

Oh it isn't advice. It's what I do.

Safe computing practices just are not a thing that 99% of the people do. Heres a perfect example.

It is impossible to advise people about safe computing practices when they insist on running in their PC's as administrator and the simple typing of a password is just too much of a bother. :mrsgreen:

I only got one when it came through a hard drive I was going to format (a relatives). Even though there is almost no way I'm going to contract a virus, it's not going to kill my computer to run an AV or firewall. With Zone Alarm, I've caught so many nasty little things trying to get in to my computer. I actually had a dialer once, and Zone Alarm found it that way. Tell ya, that gave me soiled clothes when I saw that!
