luckyme420
ok i dont need a lesson in how a guy's got needs...what i need to know is how do i check to see if some porn cookies were popups or put on here by some other mean than my bf accessing the site to get his jollies. he claims he never went to the sites and that they were put on here by pop ups (which he claims he never seen popup) he says that cookies can be put on here without you even surfing the web that you merely have to be connected. i'd like to know if he's telling the truth and i need to know if anyone can help me prove him right....i want him to be right....i dont want to believe that he went to these sites but when i went to them myself to see if they looked like popups they didnt. they were site addresses in the cookies and they were sites when i typed in the addresses i saw. i havent clicked on the cookies themselves because i didnt want to change the times they were accessed and created. please someone help.... Sharkey71
you only get cookies from visiting sites. have you looked at you ie history or temporary internet files also check auto complete :welcome:
Chris*XxX*
:welcome: i dont think pop ups leave cookies... i think you have to actually click on a site to get them. edit: you might try going here, and asking if they come from pop ups http://www.cookiecentral.com/board/ Edited December 16, 2003 by clg2277
luckyme420
ok so he's playing on my lack of computer knowledge then. so everybody is sure there's no way for these cookies to of gotten there without him actually going to the sites......? because he's going to argue no matter what. anybody got any online sites or somewhere i can go that has proof so i can print it and tell him to argue with that? that its not just a few people's opinions on how these things are generated but that there are facts i can show him? i'm waiting for replys on the cookie forum too....thanks guys you've been a big help
ronniecoleman
A link for you to read. http://www.nowsell.com/pop-ups/pop-up-cookies.html My personal opinion is that you don't get that kind of pop-up unless you have been to that kind of site, or your e-mail is spammed with that kind of thing. Countrydave55
I will say that you you can get to those sites easily and not purposefully. Have you ever typed in your favorite site and missed 1 letter to end up somewhere else (usually a porn site)? I know that there is a bad site named something like Pitstop. I thiink that the other thing going on with your responses here is that most of us keep popup blockers, add blockers and hosts files on so we may not get a chance to bump into porn as much as the average computer user. Just something to think about.

X_C
Some pop ups do leave cookies and some will leave even spyware. I don't care much for helping someone bust a poor guy just for having a passing interest in lookin at nudies as long as it's not some kind of kiddy trash. Plus it is a little difficult to be sure that they were not just pop ups or miss spelt links. I think this is best kept to being between you and your boyfreind. Good luck. Countrydave55
Actually I suspect that 8 different addresses minutes apart is evidence of a popup. Unless your boyfriend took an Evelyn Wood speed porn looking course I wouldn't think you could load many imageas at 1 or 2 minutes a piece. On the other hand I have seen 1 pop up porn site that must have openened 20 windows at different sites in less time than you can click the close box. If you think you have the evidence you need go to the 1st pop up see if it opens 10 or more quicker than you can close them/

I would have to say, please tread lightly with your boyfriend, he could well be innocent of any serious probs!!
Guest Johnincal
It is true that just surfing the web you can get a ton of popups that can leave cookies. And just give him a break anyway.... I sure you will make him pay no matter what. And a guy does have needs!!!

dave
You definitely don't need to go to a porn site to get a porn cookie. If the site had a porn ad on it, and many sites do that you find in Google, then it probably placed a third-party cookie on the computer. If it had a pop-under or pop-up, then it could have been a first party cookie. I can tell you that until I blocked some of the sites like sextracker.com I used to find their cookies on my system even though I didn't visit porn sites. Honest!
