I'm on NTL 1Mb service and using the Blue Yonder speed test I get the following speeds.

ntl:World - 1Mb service Server Download:

123KB/s (984Kb/s) - Perfect - running at full speed!

Download through Transparent Cache:

127KB/s (1016Kb/s) - Perfect - running at full speed!

Were you on the 512k before the upgrade?

I am on comcast pro and I run at about 14.9 to a bit over 15.0 depends on what time of day but then comcast is flaky with speed

i had blueyonder for a while and when i upgraded from 1mb to 2mb they said it could take 24 hours,

also on the blueyonder speed test dont forget to test the 1mb connection not the 512k,

it wouldn't hurt to give them a ring, after all you could spend ages looking for a solution only to find some idiot at blueyonder forgot to update the account.

Cable is a shared connection and the more people online, the slower it becomes...it gets down to 20kb in my area :woot: Companies also offer different packages at different prices ...i.e., 200kb might be the max download.

I would call back the ISP and see if they actually set it up...perhaps they haven't because of some kind of line problem.

Computers are setup for DIALUP by default. You have to make some registry changes either manually or with software. Go to www.speedguide.net for settings...also, www.dslreports.com

results of blueyonder speed test

59 kbs (472)kbs - perfect runnung at full speed

Is that 59kb up and 472kb down?....that is a big improvement over 60kb down...but nowhere near the 1mb you paid for...This is pretty typical of dialup settings on broadband.

Open a command prompt.

Type ipconfig/release and hit enter.

Power down the modem.

Power it back up and wait for it to show a stable connection.

Open a command prompt.

Type ipconfig/renew and hit enter.

Test again.
