Ie 5.5 Exporer Close Error Message

Guest oliver

Recommended Posts

I get this error message nearly everytime I close Internet Explorer 5.5 on my WIN98SE machine:

<UNKNOWN> caused an invalid page fault .....must shut down etc.

I have update SP2, Q312461 & Q822925.

Java 2 Runtime, Java Webstart /Shockwave/ Google Toolbar installed, but it didn't start happening immediately after installing any of these, unless its maybe the Java Console. Anyway, I can't figure out what the program is that is crashing/ or if I just need to update something/uninstall it.

Thanks for any help.

Excuse me while LOL again

Adjusting my cache size is going to stop me from getting unknown crashes? (or any of the other tips)

C'mon.

Why don't you just admit you have no idea what the problem is?

oh and last time i used windows update to get IE 6, I spent the next entire day troubleshooting with tech support to get my system to boot up again, so no thanks there either.

you've got some very odd vcache settings:

Min File Cache 50 MB

Max File Cache 52.34 MB

with the amount of memory you have, there should be no minimum or 1mb(1024) and the maximum should be set for 512mb (524288)

and do you know what this file is? C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WILC2.EXE

a google search shows no hits...

it's most likely a virus or spyware.

yes I realize that, I had actually given up. Unfortunately, I resorted to the "flame" remarks after the non-responses I received. Didn't think anyone would actually keep this one alive. So I apologize. And yes future help is appreciate. Its go nothing to do with the wilc2.exe

I checked it out - its neither. Happens to be a part of the Toshiba Driver that allows me to print from my computer to my Toshiba copier.

have you tried adjusting the vcache settings in the system.ini file?

you can also try removing one stick of memory and then let windows handle the virtual memory settings.
