Guest go2girl
I installed Personal Firewall Plus from McAfee today (30 day free trial) and reviewed their Help file, but I still have a question. I have Time Sink Adgateway from Conducent Technologies on my computer as a condition of my downloading a shareware version of PKZip in May 2000. TSAdBot periodically launches & downloads clickable banner ads that display on the PKZip screen when I use it. I now use PKZip ver.4.05 which also displays the Time Sink ads. To my knowledge, it has never been a problem. TSAdBot was detected by the Firewall and I have allowed full internet access. If I deny access or uninstall Time Sink, will I still be able to use PKZip? (When I launch PKZip, it also asks for access, but runs without it; I know, because I don’t zip/unzip on-line.)
Guest DaveB
I would say that if you remove any part of the original D/l at some point it will either stop working or cause some other malady
Countrydave55
:welcome: Go- Not that it is any of my business but not many around here like the McAfee firewall. I would suggest ZoneAlarm. It is free. There are several free ones that are as good or better e.g. Sygate, Tiny etc. The links are in the stickies at the top of the page. As for PKzip is there a reason you want to use a zip prgram that has spyware? There are several available that don't require clicking to remain active. Just my 2 cents. Inprofile
Block it with the firewall if you do not wish to be spied upon. http://accs-net.com/smallfish/conducent01.htm
volt
I would get rid of the pkzip,,the spyware and the McAfee firewall. Below is a free,, spyware free unzip utility and 2 free firewalls that work better and use fewer system resources. And welcome to the pitstop!! v http://www.stuffit.com/expander/winindex.html http://download.com.com/3000-2092-10039884...page&tag=button http://www.simtel.net/pub/dl/53687.html
