Hi!

I have been trying to update a friend's IE browser, but I am getting the following message:

Unknown extension on file:

c:\windows\tempor~1\content.ie5ekhrmn\ie5dom~1.exe

I am at a loss as to why I cannot download a file with an .exe extension. I have no idea what settings and/or alterations need to be made to this PC.

any and all help is appreciated.

Jeannie

Hello again!!

In response to Dave... the specs for this PC:

IBM Aptiva

MS Windows 95 ver. 4.00.950 B

IE 5 5.002919.6307

Cipher Strength: 56 bit

I am trying to update this browser so it will have 128 bit encryption. I went to the MicroSoft site and tried to download:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/ie5...N-US/ie5dom.exe

That is when I get the message regarding an 'unknown extension'.

I appreciate the help.

Jeannie

P.S. I know, I know, this PC is a relic, but at the present this is all they have. I am just trying to help them use it to its fullest (if possible).
