wkunert
I just downloaded the latest update for Win 10 and Supershield won't allow Edge to load. Seems like this happens every so often after a MS update yo Win 10. I uploaded a log file a few minutes ago
Y kawika
Are you a part of the WIP (Windows Insider Preview) program? In Cortana, type: winver Press Enter What exact version number is showing there? Is it 1809 (OS Build 17763.1) Thanks Y
wkunert
I'm not currently running any insider previews. My version is 1809 build 17763.
Y kawika
Thanks, yep, I was able to recreate this myself on one of my lappys. Our chief Super Shield developer is aware of the issue and is in contact with his M$ contacts. Hopefully this will get resolved quickly. Thanks for the help and the head's up. Heynorton
I also just updated the Windows to version 1809 and Edge giving problems. I changed my default to Firefox and working fine with PCMatic. I will be looking for fix also
wkunert
I'm sure this affects everybody who has the latest Win 10 update and runs Edge and uses PC Matic.

Yep........ on the money! If Super Shield is "paused" using the tray app, then Edge opens and performs properly. Even if Super Shield becomes active again when Edge is open, there is no problem. The issue is at Edge's launch. Edge is opening, but getting the web page to display is where on initial start up is where there is conflict. Our team is working on it and is in contact with Microsoft about this issue. One thing that Tex found that I hadn't seen previously is that some are reporting a loss of data and files from their Documents folder when updating to version 1809. https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-october-update-problems-wiped-docs-plus-intel-driver-warning/ Have you guys run into anyone that has experienced this after the update? Y kawika
Microsoft pulled the update to version 1809 because of all the bugs and multiple people getting their personal Documents and photos deleted after updating. https://www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2018/10/6/17944966/microsoft-windows-10-october-2018-update-documents-deleted-issues-windows-update-paused I rolled mine back to version 1803 and recommend anyone else running 1809 to do the same. Tx Redneck
I'm livin on the edge, I've everything on Backblaze anyhow and all that stuff is mapped to separate drives and not on C:\
wkunert
I reverted back to 1803. MS has supposedly fixed the problems in 1809 and is releasing it to the Insider program for evaluation.
wkunert
1809 has been released once again. The same problem exits with Edge-itwon't open with SuperShield active. Obviously this is not one of the problems MS worked on.
Tx Redneck
Hey wkunert, I'm unsure of the status on this currently, but could you open a ticket with our support desk so we can get some more info? Thanks!
donh112118
Is there any progress on this problem ?
Tx Redneck
Hey donh112118 and At this point, support can look into logs from your machine and see what's going on in your instance, but it's my recommendation that you'd look into a new browser as Microsoft has announced that they're abandoning Edge and creating their own Chromium based browser. If you'll open a trouble ticket at https://www.pcmatic.com/support/ we can get logs from you. https://www.theverge.com/2018/12/4/18125238/microsoft-chrome-browser-windows-10-edge-chromium
gpoole
this is what I got from a support ticket - worked for me Please try installing SuperShield directly from the link below and let us know if that does not resolve the issue: LINK REMOVED by Admin Reboot the computer. Hi gpoole and thanks for your input and glad that the fix you posted worked for you. Some fixes are tailored to your specific system / OS also by getting people to open a ticket with support we are able to track specific problems and trends. I would also advise against anyone downloading and running a .exe file from a website linked by a member and not an official link!!
