Windows update ruined my desktop PC.

Windows updated my PC & when I turned it on the next day, almost all of my desktop shortcuts were gone, I couldn't find PCM for a long time.  I can't find a "restore" site, my HP 2130 printer says it can't be found.  I'm old and ignorant to this but I'm trying.  Most of your topics refer to laptops....I still have a Acer desktop (about 3 years old).  The update also wiped out all those pretty ACER squares that I used.  I'm at my wits end with this crap!  Help!  Somebody!

On your keyboard, press the "Windows key" + "R"

type:  rstrui.exe

Press Enter

This will bring up System Restore

Find a restore point at a time prior to this happening and allow it to roll back.

Hope that this brings it all back to you.

Sorry, not to hijack grammashorty's thread but in your opinion, would the solution you suggested also work if you made the change from Windows 8 to 10, and would like to revert back to Windows 8?  Perhaps it would be better if I started a separate thread on this....
