why do i now need to enable invisioncic.com before i can reply to any topics? yesterday i didn't need it, in fact yesterday it wasn't even a javascrypt listed and running on the forum.

i'd like to know why it is needed, and what if anything of mine it's collecting?

don't know why but this is really ping me off for some reason.

New update got put in place this afternoon for security patches.

Having to enable invisioncic.com was not necessary for me to reply though but then again,  I'm running Windows on this rig.

Don't know if that's the difference or not.

Anyone else having to enable invisionic.com?

to be honest don't know why running windows or linux should make a difference.

i'd think it's a browser/html issue and it seems to me until the invisioncic.com javascript mines it's data it won't allow the post box to be used.

for example i can start a new topic, write the heading but that's as far as i get without allowing invisioncic.com

i doubt most people would notice because they'd have to be running  noscript in the first place.

the scripts that show are :-

pcpitsop.com (which i allow.)

invisioncic.com (which i now need to temporarily allow if i want to make a reply)

invisioncloudstats.com (blocked)

google-analytics.com (blocked)

until today nothing to do with invision was displayed.

i'm curious exactly what is this invision supposed to do to increase security anyway? is there a site link i can visit to find out more about it?

Well a big part of this entire upgrade/update was in moving us out of the old environment.

The previous version of the forum software was no longer being supported and was becoming more and more unstable.  We were actually offline quite a bit these last few weeks and were working with their team to get us back up again.

We're now a big ol' part of the invision cloud community and from what I'm seeing so far, the software is more responsive.

I'll have to dig around to see exactly what security issues they were addressing with the last update, I was a bit surprised to see it hop into place just 2 days after we had completed the migration, but so be it.

I'm glad that we still have a home.

i'm using firefox on linux with adblock, noscript and user-agent switcher add ons.

user agent is set to show me using firefox on osx.

i'll log out and see is disabling agent switcher makes a difference.

made no difference so until i allow the script i can't post anything.

thanks tomk, blocked everything.

and can post just no smilies or advanced options, so the 2 must be linked somehow.

seem to remember i had this problem last time changes were made and needed to allow googleapis or something like that then too before everything worked.

"and from what I'm seeing so far, the software is more responsive. "

can't say the same from my end.

Certain parts of the software are being stored and called from invisioncic.com, like the smileys:

edit:  yes, I'm still playing in the ACP to see what can be done to get things to move with a bit more zippity-doo-dah.

I only use Firefox for this forum.... haven't seen anything about invisioncic.com, yet.  Some of the old smileys show, but not all of them. They were there yesterday, but not today!

Y  what did you do in the ACP? You might want to backtrack :P

The default setting displays 21 emoticons.  Clicking where it says "Categories" allows you access to all 162 emoticons that we have available. (see screen shot)

We lost the "facepalm" in the transition and I'm hoping to find it and replace it.

If any of you have some favorites that you would prefer to have in the Default "top 21" list, then let us know and we can arrange them to our preferences.

Terry, here's their concern:

"This release addresses an XSS vulnerability and we recommend all clients upgrade as soon as possible."

edit:  also acronym "invisioncic" = invision Community In the Cloud

just an FYI, that I just came across myself. :)
