Windows not responding

Recommended Posts

I purchased PCMatic and Pitstop to replace Norton on 7/31. At that time, everything worked. Now, my system is totally hosed. Initially, it would let you log in or restart but it would never get you to the point of being able to start a program.

I booted in safe mode and now can not do anything. The spinning circle stays there forever. If I click on the windows icon, it says that Microsoft Windows is not responding. If I start task manager, is says it isn't responding.

What did PCMatic do to wreck my system?

Now I can't boot the system in any other mode and I can't do anything in safe mode.

What now?

Your scan results do not show any indication of changes made by the PC Matic program that would cause such an issue.

If Norton 360 was still running and then you install another anti-virus program onboard to run at the same time, then corruption, freezing, unpredictable errors and an unstable environment can occur.

I see that the team in the helpdesk are helping you with this also.

Try pressing the Windows key + R then typing: rstrui.exe

This brings up the system restore utility.

Pick a restore point before this occurred and allow the computer to complete the restoration.
