new build..new technology?

Recommended Posts

to be honest i'm not really sure what your wanting to know bh, you've already got the 4790k so don't want advice on which to buy, 4790 or 6700 and of course it is going to be a performance upgrade from your current amd 8350 cpu.

anyway here's the tech details of both intel cpu's.

http://ark.intel.com/products/88195/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_20-GHz

and a comparison of the 4790 to 8350 :- http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-vs-AMD-FX-8350/2384vs1489

there will be no difference in using the 4790k instead of 6700k in user experience, yes the benchmarks will be better with 6700k but then again everything will also cost more for the slight performance increase (about 5% i believe).

personally i'd go 6700k route as first choice but seeing how you already own the 4790k chip and it is going to be the best bang for buck anyway (the difference in price between your $150 4790k and a $380 6700k is over 150% so your paying 150% more for a 5% gain in performance) then i don't really see any reason to change it for the 6700k.

For my benefit it'd be "all the way, 4790k"...

In other words I think terry is spot on, why pay that much more for not hardly any performance increase?

i really didn't want to give my daughter the 6700 htpc i just built for her either after i'd set it up and tested it for a while, but then again we have the kids so we get to spoil them every now and then (makes me happy doing it too.) and she loves it as much as i did but for completely different reasons.

i loved the speed and responsiveness of the pc and she loves the universal all in one remote i paired it with. :rofl3:

seeing how he's a pro gamer, he might be better off with a x99 chipset motherboard with corresponding i7 cpu and quad graphics cards.

thing to do in all honesty is ask him, what's better, the newer z170 chipset motherboard and cpu or the more pci lanes and cores/threads of the x99 chipset and cpu combo. (he can probably get stuff free or with a huge discount too.)

they are worth it..the kids i mean...

yep i think so to.
