If any of you are having an issue with Chrome / Chromium after the latest round of Kernel updates you can run it from terminal with:

/usr/bin/google-chrome-stable %U --disable-namespace-sandbox

Alternative is roll back the kernel until a fix is published.

Yes, this worked for me on 13.2. But then I ran update today and have a new kernel

john@Giga3:~> uname -r
3.16.7-35-desktop
john@Giga3:~>

I then installed google-chrome-stable_current_x86_64.rpm version 48.0.2564.116-1 downloaded today and it works normally. So maybe the problem in 13.2 is fixed.

I didn't have this problem on Leap 42.1

Good news!! I'm away this week so i'll run the updates on Saturday.

Leap is on a different kernel anyway so that. as you say, wasn't affected.

Annoying because it stopped chromium and all the chrome forks I have installed!

  • 2 weeks later...

nigsy if you have sky can you tell me if you can watch skygo in the chrome browser without the need to add any work around like pipelight/silverlight,

i've heard watching netflix isn't a problem (uses html5 instead of silverlight.) so if sky is the same then i might get around to reorganising my pc's next week and installing leap42 without having to get pipelight installed and working also.

i'll just use firefox as my default browser and chrome to watch sky and netflix if not then i'll stick to firefox only and figure out pipelight for leap42.

thought as much, couldn't find anything where sky uses html5 yet,

and of course chrome stopped integrating silverlight playback into it ages ago.

so looks like i'm in for some fun and games when i try and get leap42 and pipelight working together then.
