I've just installed ubuntu-12.04.4-desktop and I simply cannot work out how to install the drivers for my Edimax EW-7811Un USB wireless LAN! I've managed to unpack the Linux driver folder into a new folder using Archive manager but that's as far as I have been able to get, even though I have spent several hours trying to find out how to actually install those drivers in Ubuntu! So if anyone could possibly spare the time to give me really simple step-by-step instructions I would be eternally grateful :-)

open a terminal and open gedit with sudo privileges by running the command

sudo gedit

navigate to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf. add this to the end of the file

# Blacklist native RealTek 8188CUs drivers
blacklist rtl8192cu
blacklist rtl8192c_common
blacklist rtlwifi

Navigate to the folder you extracted, and in the folder should be a file named "install.sh". Open a terminal and run the command

sudo bash install.sh

After the script is finished running reboot the computer and you should be all set.
