I'm looking to build my first rig and would like a detailed guide and also some advise on component parts. I can't afford a killer machine.Just something that would let me fold steady and would be upgradable in the future. May $500-600 range. I know I could probably get a ready made one off the shelf, but I am probably going to be retiring in a few years and will need a hobby or go crazy.

Hi Blues! Would be happy to have you join our little folding team. Within that range, I would think an AMD cpu would be best but I don't have a lot of experience on what would be best for folding. CB, Guns, Muttunhuner, MichaelB et al.....what are you thoughts on components?

Thanks guys for the input. I know nothing about Linux so I'd probably go with Windows. The components CB listed looks pretty good to me. Heck I might even use that one for everyday and put the one I'm using to folding.
