Team Overclocking Memory

Recommended Posts

I've got an opportunity to pick up a dual channel kit of this RAM for about $10. The seller has it listed as 4GB kit consisting of 2x2GB DDR2-1066.

I'd be running it on my Asus M4N78 Pro with an AM2+ Phenom X4 9550 (at least until I upgrade the CPU). Should work just fine at 1066 as long as the CPU is AM2+ or AM3, so no problem there.

I see discontinued at Newegg a 2GB kit (2x1GB) and it gets mixed reviews.

Seller provided this link for the kit being sold.

Current RAM is Mushkin Enhanced Blackline series Extreme 2x1GB DDR2-800. Looking to run 64 bit OS, either Win7 or openSUSE. May possibly do some weekend gaming, but definitely will be folding!

Should I risk the $10 or am I better off going for something else?

No, seller could not guarantee whether it's working or not. Said he's looking to sell it because his mobo died and the new replacement he got wants DDR3. So I'm passing on this one.

I did however find someone else who is selling 2x2GB G.Skill DDR2-1066 for only $15 more. The G.Skill should work really nice and has the same timings 5-5-5-15.
