obuntu
Hi, I am running a windows 7 laptop. Yesterday when I tries to start firefox, it crashes and tries going into safemode, then crashes again. I tried scanning my computer with ESET and it picked up 14 infiltrations! (I just scanned it a couple days ago and it was clean then). Firefox is working now, but it occasionally loses connection to the internet (and the same thing happens with internet explorer), e.g., if you watch a youtube video it would suddenly drop ("an error occurred, please try again") I suspect the computer is still not clean. I am posting the logs here to seek further help. Thanks in advance and happy new year to the crew!!! Tomk_
Hi Obuntu, My name is Tomk. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. Logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following: I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic. Let's try this: Download ComboFix: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe * IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link --> http://forums.whatthetech.com/How_Disable_your_Security_Programs_t96260.html Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts. As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console. **Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures. Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message: Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:ComboFix.txt in your next reply. Notes: 1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall. 2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions. 3. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser. 4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.
