What anti virus program

Recommended Posts

I bought a new dell inspirion 620 got win 7 and I need a anti virus program that is good . It came with McAfee but I don't like it cause it takes up so much space. If I unistall the McAfee I want to make sure I got ALL of it not just 1/2 of it from the registry. Got any suggestions on a good anti virus and good uninstaller for McAfee?

How to properly remove McAfee (there's a link to a removal tool also)

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good freebee that almost everybody likes

There are a multitude of pay for antiviruses and everybody has their own opinion about which they like best. My favorite pay for a/v would be Eset's Nod 32

My personal favorite is AVAST and it has always done a fantastic job for me. AVG is another good one and both of these are free.

AVG has a very annoying pop up to goad you into purchasing, It's resources can be a bit higher than MSE's

I'm for Avast!

AVG was my favorite until they started in with those daily annoying popup ads.

Avast has some minimal annoyances now and then with popups but not as bad as AVG has gotten.

Another vote for Avast! and it's free. If you want a paid antivirus I'd recommend you try out PCMatic from PCPitstop > http://www.pcpitstop.com/default.asp

It comes with SuperShield which is a great antivirus/malware fighter. You can run PCMatic once a week and tune up your system and it keeps your system clean 24/7... I use it on 4 PC's.

For a paid product I would choose Norton over McAfee, hands down.

But Avast is free and good.

I'm sure PC Matic is good but I have a very hard time recommending anything that uses scarey and very tacky advertizing. They make it look like one of those other hookey software programs that don't work
