Acer laptop powers off when moved

Recommended Posts

Has anyone encountered this issue?

The laptop works fine unless I pick the laptop up holding it from the front.

If I pick it up from the sides it does not happen.

The laptop works normal and all hardware works fine in a desk or table (flat surface).

If I move the laptop it loses power.

Check this

where you can see the power button light going off when moved

Does this happen only when the laptop is on battery power, or only when the adapter is plugged in, or both? What happens when running with the adapter and with the battery removed? Edited by TomGL2

It does the same on battery or AC power.

If the laptop is lifted from the right side or bend a little it shuts down.

If the laptop stays on a flat surface or it is pick up by both sides with both hands it stays on.

Without having the schematic, I'd guess the problem is at the power supply connector, specifically a cracked solder joint, easily fixed with decent soldering technique; or a lifted and torn pad, for which professional repair should be sought.
