How to Remove SMART Data Recovery?

Recommended Posts

Lets start with this...

Download > http://majorgeeks.co...ware_d5756.html and save it to your desktop. Run the program like this:

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.

At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.

When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.

See this guide: http://www.bleepingc...e-data-recovery

Let us know how you are doing following the 'removal'.

Since this FakeAV is known to be associated with/as a "Rootkit", you might also want to read about Rootkits...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rootkit

I will not deal with a Rootkit. ... You can never be sure that your computer will ever be stable again unless you wipe and do a "clean install" of the Windows OS.

Ran Malware numerous times, detected and removed, deleted trojan from quarantined file, ran again, no threats detected. Ran unhide.exe, folders appear but no subs, ie:Microsft Office (empty). Icon still shows up on startup bar...getting there but not operating yet
