Good or bad motherboard

Recommended Posts

Trying to build a computer piece buy piece i received my Mid Tower today. Was wondering if http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/MSI-970A-G46-Desktop-Motherboard-AMD-970-Chipset-Socket-AM3/6475751/product.html was a good pick up.

Also thinking about around 800w Power Supply range. This will be primarily used for gaming computer and also could use some ideas for processor and video card.

Games being played would be like D3 some WoW and League of Legends nothing super strong but around the mid area.

before buying a motherboard the first thing you want to decide on is the processor, not all motherboards and processors go together, no point buying that motherboard if you decide you want an intel i5 processor for example.

what is your budget.

I would opt for this 8 core CPU on sale > http://www.newegg.co...-_-19103961-L0D

And something like this mobo > http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813131767

Here's a PSU > http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817256067

RAM > http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820231476

Vid card > http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130610

Total about $730 + shipping on a couple items and your case. Then you need an O/S...

P.S. I avoid MSI motherboards like the plague!!

Ohh I love what i have built to bad a few months after I got done with it. I was called on a deployment. 1 mistake that i did make was i ordered a non modular PSU, and had just a pile of cable laying on the bottom of my case, since it had no cable system in the case. Ordered a new one around Christmas time this year and I will be glad to make it back to game on it for a while, also bought a mechanical keyboard and new mouse to boot, by far one of my better investments.
