openSUSE new kernel tonight.

Just a heads up for anyone who might have drivers or modules compiled from source. There is a kernel update coming in. So be sure you have your driver source codes available to recompile them after the update.

This is what happened Bruce.

 

I did the updates and it prompted me to reboot ASAP. I rebooted, and it took me into a text-only mode. So I installed the nvidia driver just like before and it was successful. I rebooted, but the same exact thing happens....just goes straight to text. The commands 'startx' and 'kdm' do nothing, though the former spits out an error with regards to not being able to move an old config file or something like that.

I'll look for the something like that error message sometime and see what some people ave to say about it. ;)

 

In the mean time, if you could provide the exact error message it would make things much easier.
