Having a bit of trouble with the WD File Management Engine this past weekend. Away from the computer for a night out Friday and when I came out, the computer was all cranky. When i finally managed to get the Task Manager opened, I noticed that the WDFME service had eaten all of the memory altogether!

The most recent up-to-date version of the service, as well as WD SmartWare, is 1.5.16, released August 16, 2011

The last time memory leaks were addressed in the WDFME service was in the April 2011 update of the program. They STILL didn't fix it. Now here we have users complaining that their memory is running full on systems with 4GB or more and it's already run up as high as 85% utilization.
