Y kawika
It does sound more like a software conflict or more probably corruption of key system files. Which version of Windows are you running? XP? 7? Vista? 8? Have you tried using sfc /scannow http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/sfc-scannow.htm Is there any change when booting and running your system in Safe Mode with Networking? Have you tried installing the drivers while in Safe Mode with Networking? Y
mrcrynox
I'm running Windows 7. Tried the suggestions still NG. Same message as before, reports that an error has occurred during driver installation. It states a parameter problem but does not specify what. SFC reports back no errors.. mrcrynox
Update: I reinstalled Windows and I now have an internet connection. One question though, once I have transferred all of my files is it OK to delete the Windows.old folder? Or well this cause problems?
geewhiz
the windows.old folder can be quite large and you would probably want to recover that space. Make sure there's nothing on it that you may still want to keep http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/How-do-I-remove-the-Windows-old-folder
GeoffB
I had the same problem and ran the batch file. It worked fine. Thankyou
Based Speed
So I recently found out that my laptop decided to stop connecting to the internet. and after looking around, I think the problem is that I have no IPv6 connection. I tried too change the settings so it automatically obtains the IPv6 address, but it turns out it was already set to that in the first place. Any ideas on how to fix this? Y kawika
See if clearing and resetting the DNS and your IP's gets things going first. Copy and paste these lines in Note pad. @Echo on pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc attrib -h -s -r hosts echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS attrib +r +h +s hosts popd ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /flushdns netsh winsock reset all netsh int ip reset all shutdown -r -t 1 del %0 Save as flush.bat to your desktop. Double click on the flush.bat file to run it. Vista and Windows 7... right click the .bat file and choose to run as Administrator. Your computer will reboot itself. Alex Harry
Just to be on the safe side, reboot your rig and let's see if it sticks. I'm glad that there's light at the end of this tunnel! Y how do I get the file on my computer if I have no internet to download it with?
Y kawika
how do I get the file on my computer if I have no internet to download it with? Are you asking about the flush.bat file? You can set it all up on a working computer as the flush.bat file and then copy and paste it to a Flash Drive (USB thumb-drive) and then copy it over to the other computer that way. Or you can type it all out and then rename it as instructed. Either way will work. Y

Y kawika
I can't get Firefox but can get ie. Any help for this one? The browser cache may need to be cleared. Firefox cache: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache Next, try resetting your browser to defaults and manually uninstall any and all tool bars in Start>Control Panel>Programs and Features (or Add/Remove Programs). There are instructions at the link below to help with resetting the browser: http://www.howtogeek.com/171924/how-to-reset-your-web-browser-to-its-default-settings/ Y
