Old Laptop Has Trojan

Rolo2

Recommended Posts

I have a Dell 6000 Inspiron that has seen better times. It takes about 15 minutes to boot up. I ran spybot and destroy and I know it has a trojan, but it says its in the memory and cannot be fixed. Is there a free trojan remover that would maybe fix this problem. Don't know if it's the trojan causing this problem or whether this laptop is just shot. If there is such a program that I can run, can you please give me the link. I tried trojan hunter, but the evaluation program just tells you there is a problem, but it won't fix it. Thank you very much.

You could try Malwarebytes

Here's how to run it:

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.

At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.

When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
