meadbd
Bought PC MATIC a few days ago and installed it. I'm using it on Windows XP with a Toshiba laptop Satellite A105. How do I choose "Full Scan" or "Quick Scan"? BEFORE... it would take from 3-10 minutes to load my system! I could take fron 5-20 seconds to get to my emai program(Outlook Express). AFTER... just as slow as before... What am I doing wrong? Appreciate any help.
caintry_boy
Hi! Welcome to PC Pitstop meadbd!! Are you also running PC MaticRT with it? After PC Matic opens, first of all does it say "Protected" with the little *gear* at the bottom? You need to go into "Options" and set PC Matic to run the way you want, i.e. full defrag, full virus/malware scan etc., then "Save" those options. Hope it helps. IntelGuy
To change between the quick scan and the full scan you can open PC Matic and click on Options>Scan Options and make the selections there. Be sure to click on "Save" before closing the Options screen. For the computer's performance, please post an OverDrive link so that we can see what is taking place on your computer. You will need to register an account, login, and run the full tests from the link below, then copy and paste the URL from the results page into your reply: http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/ If you need help, there is a tutorial here: http://forums.pcpitstop.com/html/helpfiles/techexphelp.htm

IntelGuy
Thank you for the OverDrive link. The main thing that jumps out is that the computer is lacking in memory: http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/tips/MemAdd.asp?conid=24382909 Also, having a single core Celeron probably isn't helping matters, either. Was the computer this slow before installing the CA Security Suite? If you run from Safe Mode, does the normal speed return? If so, then there are processing running in the background that are dragging down the performance.
