Gtx 580 (20%) Faster/ Out In November?

Recommended Posts

But that's a dual proc card brandon. The 580 is a single. If it'll only break even w/ the 6900 than it doesn't say much for the 6900.

Doesn't say much for the GTX580 either, since it will have higher power consumption most likely. If the 6870 is any indication, the 5800 series was not well balanced, so if they use what they learned from the 6870 on the 6900 series cards, there really is no telling how they could perform.

The 6970 is supposed to have 1920 shaders, and if they have a well-balanced architecture, I think in games that don't use tessellation heavily, the 6900 cards will be world beaters. Tessellation performance is supposed to be going up by quite a lot as well, but nVidia will be hard to beat in that area.

That said, I'm looking forward to this battle. It should make prices drop, and I've had my eye on a 5000 series card for some time now.

Why can't you compare? Its about price/performance. 20% better then a 480.

480 is around 500.00, so the 580 errr about 600/700?

Two 6850 at 360.00 beat a 480 by 30%.

So two/three hundred less, for equal performance.

No the price of the 580 will be $499.99

Zardon (Kitguru) says 429RRP (499USD), but i doubt it, if the product is easier to bin for it will cost less to produce.

Anandtech finally got their hand on a 580GTX, the benchmarks looks pretty good.

But at the 500 dollar price point I'd still get the 5970.

You can buy the sapphire version of a 5970 on newegg for 470$ after MIR.

That being said, my CF 5850's still mop up any game I throw at em.

I am sure you will like the 580 Kram. I totally like my sli 480's.

No doubt, I totally liked my GTX 480's also. Like my GTX 470 and GTX 465's and even my GTS 450's for folding and excellent PhysX card.

Oh isn't she pretty. :D
