So the building starts....

So i guess timings were too tight?

I had to jump from 7-7-7-20 and anything over 4.0 i jumped to 9-9-9-24....i hit the MEMOk button on the motherboard and let the motherboard choose a failsafe setting for the memory...and it booted up

Also upped the NB voltage to 1.25

and the QPI/DRAM to 1.4

Are ATI boards naturally bad at 2d scoring? :P

Hmm...maybe its not the ram timings....i just set it to 8-8-8-24 and it booted...one of the things i was playing with is a factor....

Trying to get past 4.4 is proving to be my next challenge...

Looking great!

I think i kinda give up...haha...its not even stable at 4.4ghz...

Maybe i will try again some other time. 4.0ghz @ 1.20v is rock stable...but everything above that doesnt seem stable at all...

to get my system into windows at 4.4ghz i need over 1.6v and nowhere stable.

never been able to get mine 100% stable at even 4ghz, not that i tried that hard, it needs more voltage than i like to use for 24/7 use.

your cpu looks to be a good one.

i think most people with an i7 run 4ghz or less anyway for daily use, and i remember reading somewhere the performance gains for speeds of 4ghz and over drop off compared to the gains made with raising the speed from say 3.2ghz to 3.6/3.8ghz.

my 24/7 setting is [email protected] 19x200 hyperthreading(ht) on and turbo mode off.

i think krams is 4ghz with lower voltage(just like you can do) with both ht and turbo mode off.

thats a great system you have there, and i'd be very happy if it was mine.

nice bit of overclocking.

The reasons I don't run HT all the time is 1) I do not feel any performance gain using it. 2) It creates a lot more heat in the cores when oc'ing. So it seems worthless to me on my personal system.

I just got done setting up another system with an i7 for folding and I have HT turned on for that, but the cpu is running at stock clocks.
