binfordw
Hi, Recently our favorite game (www.projectentropia.com) switched to cryengine2, and our desktops are struggling with the graphics. I'm considering building two new comps for my wife and I, but wanted to check into video cards first. We currently use a 7300LE and a 8400GT, both are pci express x16. I see most of the newer cards are pci express 2.0, are these cards compatible with x16 slot types?
BigJoe5434
yes they are backwards compatible. pcie 16x 2.0 runs 2 times faster, meaning it would revert back to pcie 16 mode

el kido
but study shows real life increase was 1% so dont feel bad that you dont have pci 2.0 Make sure you dont get such a power hog that your current PSU cant handle. I say a 4670 or this 9600GT Low power, cheap, and will last you a while.
