Having problems with crysis @ 1680x1050 running @ high settings on a 4850x2 1gb. Its only getting around 30 fps which, based on reviews, is what a single 4850 should be getting. In fact sometimes when I disable crossfire the fps will increase! If anyone has any suggestions let me know...

oh and I'm running on the new 9.5 catalyst driver

Aren't you that guy who we all told to wait before purchasing a new video card?

Also, didn't we tell you to buy the 4890 instead of the 4850x2?

And didn't you refuse all advice and basically say ":filtered: you guys, i'm doing what i want"?

Now you're asking for help because what everyone told you would happen is now happening?

Hmm, mighty suspicious.

thats strange, when i had crysis installed with my original 9800GTX would @ high settings be anywhere between 28fps - 40fps. but then again my monitor is a 19" 1440x900. so it was a little easier :lol:

i might reinstall it sometime and see what this card does. my best suggestion for you amd-rules, play crysis with crossfire disabled. :shrug:

or overclock it :mrgreen::tup:

If I'm not mistaken, Crysis doesn't scale x-fire very well for some reason.

there's your answer and nothing you can do about it. ;)

just put your 4870 back in to play this game. :lol:

Try another game w/ it. I'm sure you'll be surprised at the level of performance.

from a 4870??

i think he wouldn't notice any difference in any of his games. ;)

From what I have been reading (with your card) a lot of people (most) are only getting 30 fps and some are getting 35 but no higher..

Try this and it may give you and extra 6 fps..

Open up Notepad. Enter these two lines:

con_restricted=0

r_multigpu =1

Save the file as autoexec. Right click on the file and rename it autoexec.cfg. It will ask you to confirm, say yes.

Put this file in the root of your Crysis installation (usually C:\Program Files\EA\Crytek\Crysis.)

It seems the game was made more for Nvidia cards..

I get around 35 fps with my low end 4670 on high..So it must be crossfire or your card! Then again I am running raid and a much better cpu so maybe that lends to my fps

its really not a big deal, 30fps is playable and looks decent.

but exactly like brownhornet said, if its playable and looks good. then i would not worry :tup:

i have grown to realise, who cares if its 30fps or 200fps, if it plays good play it.

in my opinion FPS = Bragging Rights :rofl2:

According to synthetic benchmarks, the 4850x2 is faster, it's just Crysis that most ATI cards turd out on. Something w/ the way the game was made.
