GSmartControl is a graphical user interface for smartctl (from Smartmontools package), which is a tool for querying and controlling SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) data on modern hard disk drives. It allows you to inspect the drive’s SMART data to determine its health, as well as run various tests on it.

i will be the first to test this application and evaluate its usefulness :)

 

this application could detect a drive on its way to hard drive heaven, the short self test didn't take long.

Looking at the screenshots on the webpage this appears to be similar to the S.M.A.R.T. test in the windows only Speedfan software. Speedfan has a online data base that would be good to use in comparison...
