Rare out-of-cycle patch emphasizes the risk

With little warning, Microsoft released yesterday an unscheduled or "out-of-cycle" patch for a highly critical vulnerability that affects all versions of Windows. Security bulletin MS08-067 (patch 958644) was posted to warn of a remote-code attack that could spread wildly across the Internet.

It tells me it's not applicable to my system (ultimate 64bit) even though that is the version I downloaded.

GUY, try it again from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/MS08-067.mspx

Also, this is 'Important" for your OS but not "Critical" like the others.

I am a great believer in staying updated, I often check, but I tried the one that suggested it was for this system and it gave the same "This update does not apply to your system" pop up, the exact file is as follows incase you see a flaw:-

Windows6.0-KB958644-x64

Sure as I can be it isn't done already, but surely if it was we would get a different response such as it's already installed do you want to remove or repair or the like ?
