Queue Posted October 13, 2008 Author Share Posted October 13, 2008 I have Avast anti-virus and Commodo firewall installed on the machine. but I don't believe they are the cause i have turned them off and continue to have the same issue. The installation program flashes the cmd box and goes away. I have tried to see if it is still executing by in the task manager but it appears to not be. Link to post Share on other sites

I purchased Exterminate three days ago, it installed and worked fine a couple of times and yesterday would not install the updated ppclean file that it had downloaded. When I tried "check for a new version" I got a "could not connect to server" error. Exterminate would not uninstall, claiming that the uninstall dat file was missing. Then I tried a different PC that runs Windows XP. On it, Optimize suddenly no longer connects to the Internet AND Exterminate won't install (I get a small black DOS screen that disappears before I can read it). Both PCs are running normally otherwise. There must be a major problem on the pcpitstop server. Link to post Share on other sites
Queue Posted October 15, 2008 Author Share Posted October 15, 2008 Hmm.. Just turned my machine on to run the overdrive scan and decided to try installing the application again and it worked this time.. Not sure what is going on but no longer a problem. Link to post Share on other sites
