I have Avast anti-virus and Commodo firewall installed on the machine. but I don't believe they are the cause i have turned them off and continue to have the same issue. The installation program flashes the cmd box and goes away. I have tried to see if it is still executing by in the task manager but it appears to not be.

I have the same thing with Exterminate on a PC running Vista. I purchased Exterminate three days ago, it installed and worked fine a couple of times and yesterday would not install the updated ppclean file that it had downloaded. When I tried "check for a new version" I got a "could not connect to server" error. Exterminate would not uninstall, claiming that the uninstall dat file was missing.

Then I tried a different PC that runs Windows XP. On it, Optimize suddenly no longer connects to the Internet AND Exterminate won't install (I get a small black DOS screen that disappears before I can read it).

Both PCs are running normally otherwise. There must be a major problem on the pcpitstop server.
