big tree! had a couple over for a chicken gizzard fry saturday and my wife and my buddys wife were sitting at the kitchen table, and me and my buddy just put the first batch of gizzards in the kettle and were standing at the stove when all hell broke loose...the tree fell right thru the middle of the kitchen and middle of table it throwed my wife back about 6 ft into the frig and my buddys wife was knocked out of her chair and endeed up under table.wife was took to hospital by ambulance and miss billy by her husband.Thank god they both just got scrapes and bruises and nothing serios.aour three daughters were up front watching tv because i dont allow kids in kitchen while cooking so they were fine.I and mister todd just got knocked to the floor and are a little sore.

that'll get you to the gallery display of your pics!

ya, i was watching the radar all day and bossier/shreve ciry looked like it got hammered. i'm right up 371 and we spent all day w/out rain pretty much, MAYBE 40 mph gusts, maybe. we just lucked out and hit between bands. all in all both gustov and ike were pretty calm storms even where we are, but the luck you have w/ trees must be incredibly bad.

hows damage elsewhere in town? i gotta go back in to work at the horseshoe 'moro

Wow that's bad. My beach house is GONE!!!!!!!!!!!! It was on Bolivar Penninsula...report has it that about 90% of the homes there are GONE!!!!!!!! :(

That really sucks :(

Bolivar and Galveston got hit hard. The city of Crystal Beach has been wiped off the map.

I am not going to complain. I live in Pearland which is south of Houston. We got the power back yesterday but 90% of the city is still out.

I waited in line at a gas station for 1 hr today to fill up. It was the only gas station open in the city..it happened to be in our neighborhood which was one of the few that had electricity.

There are power lines, power poles, signs, glass, and other debris everywhere. Most traffic lights have been knocked down, so even if there was power they wouldn't work anyways.

I finally found some aerial shots of Bolivar and it's just so unreal! My family has owned that beach house since the 70s and it's about 60 or 70 years old...been through countless storms(Carla) and Alicia in 83 that was supposedly a cat 3 storm. Never had much damage at all! Now everything is just washed away! It's hard to believe that they'd be building million dollar mansions there if anyone ever thought this would happen! It's like it was nothing more than a sand bar...HA!

some pics of Crystal Beach on Bolivar Peninsula

EEEK...after looking at the KHOU video, I'm thinking that place is going to be a bird sanctuary! Everything is flattened and even if it's still standing, it's not fit for use!

hopefully your insurance co. doesnt give you hassles. sometimes they try hard to get out of paying.

know a guy who's garage caught fire, they couldnt locate the source due to too many hot spots from gas cans, spray cans, vehicles..etc but even though he wasnt home at the time, their trying to say he did it on purpose and pressing charges.
