Windows not recognizing new drive

Just installed a new HDD which shows in the BIOS and in the Pit test. I'm unable to access it and does not show up in My computer.

Would this be due to a jumper setting?

All drives are connected via IDE cables except the new drive which is SATA.

Pit test results:

did you enable the sata drives in the bios? I know on mine if you dont enable it they will show up in bios but wont be able to access the drive. Hope that helps.

You format the drive yet? If not Windows won't "see" it until you do,

right click My Computer-Manage-Disk Management-locate the new drive (should show as unallocated space) and format and assign a drive letter.

You hit the nail on the head stormy, I knew I was missing a step. I'll check and reply back.

Enjoy the extra space. :b33r:

Might even want to give serious consideration to using the new drive as your Windows drive and relegate the old 80 GB one to a storage drive, should see a small but noticeable increase in loading times for everything.

I did give that some consideration, but I'll be building a new set up after the 4870x2 comes out. I'll then be handing this one down to my son. With the new HDD he'll have plenty of room for his games. (Mine too)
