ZONEALARM BLOCKS ALL INTERNET TRAFFIC

Recommended Posts

I am using the free edition of Zone Alarm Version 7.0.470.000 and never gave me any problem till yesterday. When I discovered that none of my approved program could access the net. Not even Firefox, AVG Update or Spybot. I had to deactivate Zone Alarm before I could gain access to the internet. Now I am running on WINDOWS FIREWALL.

Wondering if anyone had encounter similar problems and what is the resolution to this.

Any advice is greatly apprecaited. :b33r:

Reduce your security setting in ZoneAlarm to medium. The recent Windows update has a conflict with ZoneAlarm. Until Zonealarm has a fix it needs to be run on medium security.

Before doing any of that just check 1 simple thing just incase, not saying the above is wrong, but make sure that the padlock hasn't been turned on, open ZA and at the top there is a padlock symbol, if that is locked then nothing gets in or out, if it isn't then the above suggestions are probably the solution, but just wanted to make sure there wasn't something simple\silly first rather than going through all that.

just updated to the new version witch didnt show up when i checked for updates vai using z/a check for update feture.(sp)

i downloaded m/softs update the other day and i couldnt connect to the net after installing it,didnt know at that time it was zone alarms uncompatability with the new m/softs update.

so i unistalled the problematic update (KB951748) and i was able to connect.

i recived a email today witch had a link to the new version off z/a.

installed m/softs update (after downloading the new versin off z/a) then installed the new z/a and no problems,so far...good luck.

OK had a mate round tonight with his laptop with exactly this issue, to start with I had no idea what was wrong as he had said he denied something and then it stopped working, so wasted a bit of time trying to find out what he did, turned out it was exactly this issue with the windows update, went to ZA in search of answers and they have a big notice up with instructions on what to do, but put all the work around aside, download the latest version and it will all work again properly, so if you have this issue go get the latest release from ZA and you will soon be surfing again.

It was an update from microsoft that caused the problem .Zonealarm have issued a new version to overcome the problem or delete the entry update kb951748 from microsoft restart the computer if you do this and all will be well again
