John 44
Nope, I'm not gonna do it this time darn it! I got 10.3 tuned up and running like a top. I half way know what I'm doing. Nope, not gonna touch 11.0 yet. I'll wait this time, oh...at least an hour.

Bruce
I will buy it, like I have every time they release. I will likely however use KDE3. Just something about KDE4 that doesn't sit well with me right now.
John 44
Well, my ati radeon HD 2600 pro works with the ati official driver. There isn't any 3d support offerred by the opensource driver. Now, if I could just get suse to stop thinking the HD tv ati vid card thingy is not my sound card, and quit thinking my old sound blaster 16 pci is just a game port, I might have sound. I have no HD TV but as usual, the toaster works well. Suse doesn't see it either. linux-ohvh:~ # glxgears 26587 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5317.312 FPS 26581 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5316.064 FPS 26584 frames in 5.0 seconds = 5316.673 FPS linux-ohvh:~ # fgl_glxgears Using GLX_SGIX_pbuffer 5104 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1020.800 FPS 6264 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1252.800 FPS 6238 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1247.600 FPS linux-ohvh:~ # fglrxinfo display: :0.0 screen: 0 OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc. Bruce
Extremely stable, everything works great , so good in fact that I installed it on my laptop and it will stay on the laptop until I get the boxed set, then the final release will be installed
aaronlewis89
This is one of the most anticipated things of this year
Bruce
Good read about openSUSE 11 If Ubuntu is a Volkswagen, then OpenSUSE is a Mercedes-Benz
tito
I'll buy the final version and give it a spin. Could you be more specific about KDE 4 Bruce? Is it the concept itself, or is it just not quite there yet?
duanester
anything new just doesn't work rite, my opinion.

Is it the concept itself, or is it just not quite there yet? Both. I prefer kde3. The new dolphin file manager is a half baked attempt at removing features aka gnome mentality that users are stupid. KDE4 will mature in time, but until it does, I will continue to use KDE3. 11 RC1 using KDE3 is rock steady and stable, package management is extremely fast and everything just works. I might give both a spin - I haven't seen KDE4 since release day.
John 44
I may have to order 11.0. I tried it on my better machines but I thought I'd get an old Dell out and give it a try. This is a 7 year old Dell Dimension L866r. It has a P3 866MHz and 512MB PC100 sdram; and the integrated Intel onboard graphics uses up a chunk of that. Suse 11.0, after some work, has 3D accel, plays dvd movies ok, and just runs like a top! This old machine just shows how much $$$ some folks waste ( not moi off course ) buying new computers when all they do is basic stuff.
