System Restore

Recommended Posts

Hi All. Anybody else have this prob? 9 times out of ten, sometimes in dire circumstances, SR comes up "cannot restore". I usually have a range of choices as I create my own restore points as well as those created by my software and often none will work. I have tried it in safe mode but no difference. Any hints?

Best wishes

if that happens again

start/run/dfrg.msc/click ok

defragment your harddrive

before you attempt a system restore run check disk

try doing a chkdsk /r from safemode

Start/run/chkdsk /r/click ok

notice the space between the k and the /

At the command prompt type the letter y

press enter

chkdsk cannot run at this time...another volume is using it

restart your computer....

Thanks mme. I run chkdsk frequently but what is the space and the extra 'r' for?

its good too use chkdsk

but in order to repair any bad sectors your need to run chkdsk /r

and the space is between the / and the r

otherwise it wont activate chkdsk /r

chkdsk /r proper

chkdsk/r improper
