caintry_boy
Talk to me like I don't have a clue! Because I don't What the hell is this supposed to mean. What designates the 5 different team categories? How is a winner chosen? What software is required? How do I obtain results? How do I post results? Who decides who is in what category? My hardware is meager at best and certainly not at the level of the nuts who spend thousands of dollars, so why should I bother? I have E6850, 4 gigs of DDR2 800, 160 gig SATA, and a lowly nvidia GS-7300 I also have q6600, 4 gigs of DDR2 800, and a lowly nvidia GS-8400, I won't let winders touch the 500 gig sata in this machine, but could be persuaded to slap another drive in, to install winders if someone could explain my above questions. O.K. Bruce, I'll do my best...... Teams are made up of 4 members each, if we have enough players we can field 5 teams (or more, but more than 5 teams doesn't count toward points. Just A-E teams count for points, at least that's how I see it...) Teams and Catagories...... A thru E Teams...4 players per team (5 teams count toward the Overall) 20 players no limit on Quad placement (but higher team placement is reccomended) F,G and other Teams do not count towards the "Overall" Meaning... if you have more than 20 players, the rest can still play. Preferably we'd want our best rig on the "A" team, something like IntelGuys QX9650 and 2xHD3870's in Crossfire....but we also want Quads and other high scorers on the other teams as well. The "Captain" will designate teams. Scoring goes like this: Scoring..... Bench scores will be weighted so a high-end rig with conventional cooling will earn a FWs overclocked score of roughly 70,000 on each bench. Highly tweaked or UE rigs may exceed 70,000 points." 3D01... True Score 3D03... True Score 3D06... 4 Times actual Score Geekbench... 10 times actual Score Super Pi.... Weighted to a max 80,000 = 8 seconds All Added up for a Warz Score The "A Teams" play against all "A Teams" The "B TEams" play against all "B Teams" and so forth... "Points" are given and the final scores tallied: Overall Scoring...... Forum final rankings from the A thru E teams are added up and the lowest total wins the overall Tiebreakers are fewest # of penryns, quads & SLI/CF rigs, Forum players then coinflip Need to be able to run these benchmarks: The Bench's...... Geekbench, 3d01, 3d03, 3d06, SuperPi 1mb (v1.5) Scoring will be adjusted so that the max for each test is 70,000 or so... (you dont have to redo all your tests to post an updated Score) We'll have a "Scores" thread to post scores in. Preferably you run all benches one at a time and post up your best scores. Of course you can tweak and run tests at different times, we just want your best scores!!! Gotta have Windows for all benches I believe except Super PI 1.5, there is a Linux version for that one and it scores like a "banshee"! Your E6850 would score well I think on Geekbench and SuperPI, the others tend to be more graphics inclined....Your Quad will run with the other Quads in scoring if you want to O/C it..... Bear in mind that none of us will likely be running "stock" speeds, OverClocking is the rule for this contest.... Whew! I haven't talked so much since Elementary school!! edit: you can find most of the answers you're looking for in the Rulez thread here: http://www.theraptorpit.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1359 Edited January 23, 2008 by caintry_boy
Bruce
OK I understand most everything except my questions about software, results, and how to post them. None of the below stuff means a thing to me. The Bench's...... Geekbench, 3d01, 3d03, 3d06, SuperPi 1mb (v1.5) Scoring will be adjusted so that the max for each test is 70,000 or so... (you dont have to redo all your tests to post an updated Score) Scoring..... caintry_boy
OK I understand most everything except my questions about software, results, and how to post them. None of the below stuff means a thing to me. Software to run these benchmarks is Windows XP or Vista: 3DMark2001SE 3DMark03 Patch for 3DMark03 3DMark06 should include Patch Software to run SuperPI is Linux or Windows: Super PI < Live download!! Only other software you'd need is the latest drivers for your vid. cards. One of the Mods or Admin is going to have to set up these threads: A discussions thread that I can link to from the main site for checking each other out and taunting A closed "Forum Wars 2007 Entry" thread (not hidden) (where all scores will be posted) An "Forum player entry thread" to Recruit Players and Cops And of course... a passworded private forum for your players only. It appears this thread is sort of a "sign up" thread, at least I'm using it for that right now....There will be a thread for "preliminary" scores, so we'll know who to put on what teams (A-E), then it'll be locked and you'll post your scores in the "Official Scores Thread".. You'll post scores like this: 3D06 - 8419 < just an example....and then your others preferably all in the same thread should look like this: 3D2K1 - 54323 3D03 - 34342 3D06 - 8419 Super PI does not have a way to link so it requires a screenshot exactly like this: note, must be able to see time/date in sys tray.....
