Well I have just finished work, (lots of overtime till jan ) and am able to

sit down and look at the list of goodies your sending me Bruce.

I must repeat your quite a guy. Your generosity is a true joy to me

in this day and age. Most folks are hard pressed to give you the time of day unless

there is something in it for them, but you give, (both physically and intellectually), to the membership here

on a regular basis.

I have to tell you that i am eagerly and unabashedly awaiting the arrival of your package.

I never really had or have any issues with our current machine so I never felt the need to upgrade.

I'm forever helping friends and family sort out issues with their machines so I'm

aware of the limitations I have with my current Dino. I can't wait to build something up with the

wonderful list of parts you have offered. I hope I can get it as stable as the old girl I'm on now

Thank you thank you thank you Mr. "C".

And god bless Tom.

Good on ya IanG, and my friend's computer problem has been solved.

I talked to the Chaplain at my local church, and there were some computers they weren't using anymore, because they were not working, and he said if I could fix them, I could have one. And fixing them, I am.

No Intel machines in this house. AMD 4 life.

I have a 766mhz celeron, 288mb ram, 20gb computer laying in the garage. I think my mom is going to give it to a lady at work who is tight on cash and needs a computer for her son's schoolwork. I have it formatted with Windows 2000 SP4 and some good programs pre-loaded. I may throw in an 80gb drive I have laying around to replace the old 20gigger which is real real slow. :snooze:

Yes, I'm really looking forward to venturing into this new OS. I've always wanted to learn more about it (Being the fanboy that Bruce is, and how much I am starting to take a hating to M$), so I'm going to pay very close attention.

Cha cha cha changes............................

Well there have been a few changes since I started this little venture  my office space is a disaster from parts being scattered all over the place. Needless to say the changes are for the good.

It started out as a P4 2.4 in an old emachine case (nothing emachine about it anymore.) and in the process of digging through some stuff I was able to toss together an upgraded machine in a pretty sweet case I forgot I had :P

So here is the computer I will be sending IanG. He doesn't know about the changes yet

ASUS A7N8X-X motherboard

AMD Athlon XP 3000+

1 gig DDR memory

PNY Nvidia 6200 256mb

Two 80 gig ata 133 hard drives

BenQ DVD Burner, Lightscribe capable

all in one card reader

3 port firewire card

Gigabit ethernet adapter

Proview 17" LCD monitor 1280x1024

Logitech S510 wireless mouse/keyboard combo.

All tucked into a very nice Clear Case

You can see it below

http://itsyourpc.org/bruce/files/IanG_Web/

Windows users may need a codec pack to view the video.

http://itsyourpc.org/bruce/files/IanG_Web/IanG.mpg

I hope it meets with his approval.

That brings me to Humbluemoon.

So instead of just the box of miscellaneous parts, he will be getting all the parts I listed before, plus the Computer I was originally going to send to IanG.

Get started on boxing everything up later in the week. I've been busy :thud:

Thats a pretty awesome deal you both have received. Good part on Bruce. Nothing like trying to spread around the knowledge with a little help. I never ventured into Linux, but thats the way to start. Just a simple machine to toy around with. :)
