Is there help for me and my computer

Recommended Posts

]

I put my pc through the pitstop scan and I am showing that my system needs some fixing. The only problem I have is that I am disabled and live on a small disability pension. I cnnot afford to buy what is suggested to get rid of spyware and adware. I have tried other things that tell you you can download free and get scanned but they only fix maybe 5 or 6 errors then you have to register it and buy it. Last time I did this it was showing 158 errors and fixed 5 and I had to uninstall it because I coud not afford to purchase it.

Can anyone tell me if there is any software that I can get for free that would fix these errors for me. If I was not disabled and could work I would gladly pay for anything to fix this as I am stuck at home and my comp is my big connection to the outside world beside tv.

If you have any suggestions please e-mail me I would be grateful for your help if you can help me.

Thanks again and I hope to talk to someone about this. Maybe I could do some searches or write e-mails for someone to pay for it. I don't know what else to offer.

I advise you remove your email address from here. You'll get bombarded with spam.

Also: http://filehippo.com/download_spybot_search_destroy/

http://filehippo.com/download_ad-aware/

http://filehippo.com/download_antivir/

http://filehippo.com/download_comodo/

Those 4 programs combined will pretty much rid your computer of any troubles with spyware & viruses that you have.

Hi Brandon, thank for your advice and for the websites. I hope this works so I can keep using my computer. Maybe this will stop the freezing of it to. That happens a number of times per day.

Thanks again and take care.

If your problems are due to things other than spyware, those programs won't really help you, unfortunately. More information about what is wrong could help get the problem solved faster & more effectively.

Edit: I had a brain fart. Those should do the trick.

Run the Pit full test, then post the results here--this will probably be moved to User to User Help forum--use the TechExpress help button top left of this page (in yellow too) for directions.

Lots of people here will look at results and try to help

I edited out the e-mail address in the first post. They can PM or e-mail through the forum without the address being posted, although it is best to solve problems in the forum so others can see the solutions. Membership here is the best and I am sure we can solve your problem whatever it may be.

Only payment required is Thanks.

you could use TUNE UP 2007

it has a 30 day trial but even if you dont purchase it any repairs it has done ...stay repaired

i ve used it in the past ..after the 30 day trial the updates were the ones that needed to be purchased

so i didnt not purchase it and i just used it all the same...........

http://www.tune-up.com/download/tu2007/

update tune up and run each of its features

restartin computer after each feature has been run

On the other hand if you wish to try clean-up 452.exe it can be downloaded from here

http://www.stevengould.org/index.php?optio...9&Itemid=72

it will clean alot of crap out of your computer ...give more disc space as well

clean out your prefetch folder

start/run/type in prefetch/click ok

click on edit

select all

right ck on any blue file

click delete

then confirm delete

next do a disk defragment

start/run/type in this dfrg.msc /click ok

click on defragment..this may take some time depending on your files and harddrive

and to fix errors that could on your harddrive

run a chkdsk /r

start/run/ chkdsk /r click ok

notice the space between the k and /

at the command prompt type in Y press enter

you will see a notice saying that chkdsk cannot run because another volume is using it

just restart your computer and it will run

again this takes time depending on your hard drive

usually about 1 or 2 hours and your computer will restart

once your done all of this please return to pitstop

if you have any problem with any of these come back here and we will help you.

Hi my friend, I am sorry it took me so long to get back to you but this computer is still acting up and freezeing a lot. I have just downloaded the Tune-Up 2007 and I am going to run that. I am not sure but I will try and get a copy of what it says as far as errors on my system goes. If not I will explain the results to you the best of my ability.

Also if that does not do it all I will try the other things you said with the clean-up 452.exe. Is that done just in regular mode ?

Anyway again thank you very much I will let you know the final results. I am also going to try and post my test I had done onto or into the forums area. Is there a specific place I should put it?

Take care and have a great Sunday.

Hi Lou, thanks for getting back to me with your reply. I am going to do a complete pcpitstop test before I do anything else and then I will try and post it with directions that have been given to me by others. I will post final results in here when I am done and if you get a chance aybe you can look at it and give me some advice if I am still having problems.

Thanks My Friend, I am ggrateful for your help. Most of all with everyones suggestions and knowing about not having lots of money to go out and buy these other programs because of my limited disability pension. I am so grateful for everyone that has shown a heart and helped me.

Take care and have a great day.

Hi there, hope you have a great week. I did a complete test this morning and posted the results I was asked to. I hope it tells you something. One thing I noticed was it siad I had no backup file or something like that. I checked out what they told me I could do but the only problem is not having enough moeny to pay ouyt for stuff like this. Is there someplace I can do a back up that will not cost. I would like to here your opinion about my test please if that would be okay. I will check out things later as I have to take son to work.

I was also going to ruh the tech express tests that are at the bottom of that page. I am still having problems and just want to run things seperately to see if they can pcik up the problem.

Thanks Again Friend.I am grateful for all this.

Hi there, thank you for getting back to me and I am so sorry that it has taken me so ling to get back to you. This morning I did a complete test on pitstop and posted it where I was suppose to under my profile edit page. Maybe if you get a chane you could look at it and give me your opinion about it.

I noticed it said in the results something about bot having a back up system for files or I guess for my whole computer. I checked some of them out and I found that the ones suggested all cost something. Not that I am cheap or trying to be but being on disability pension limits my funds very much and it is hard for me to pay for sofeware products to do correct some of the things I have been told to. I do nood and want my cpmputer to keep working as this is my main contact to the outside world. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Again I am grateful for your help and my thanks goes out to you.

Have a great week , take care and will look for your reply.

For your Spyware protection download Spybot Search & Destroy and Spywareblaster and you might want the Zone Alarm Firewall too. I see you already have AVG Antivirus.

Just click on the products in my signature to download them.

Hi Old Tone, Thank you for your suggestion. I checked it out and the Microsoft One Crae does not work on Windows ME. Seels like it only woeks on 2000, XP, & 2003 Server, most of these are the professional edition. Thanks very much for checking it out for me. I will keep trying to find something.

Have a great day and a great week.

Hi Bill.

It may be worth trying Microsoft One care. I know its not brilliant but its not bad! And its free.

I assume your PC freezing several times a day is what you really want to fix. How is that going? Is the inside of your PC clean? Did you notice the pittest did not like your crawler.com (spyware/adware) but it must not be too bad, no one else mentioned it.

Free software is discussed all over this website.

I use these, all are free.

a-squared (scanner)

Spyware Guard (blocker)

SpywareBlaster (spyware blocker)

Spybot: Search & Destroy (spyware blocker and scanner)

Ad-Aware SE (spyware scanner)

SuperAntiSpyware (spyware scanner)

Windows Defender (spyware blocker and scanner)

AVG AntiSpyware (spyware scanner)

IE Spyad (spyware blocker)

A modified HOSTS file (spyware blocker)

Firefox with addons

There are many free online scanners if you want a second opinion, after your active antivirus.

You have an undesirable tool bar (Crawler Toolbar) on your computer. Let's get rid of it first...

Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall, if there:

CTOOLBAR

CMAIL

Also remove "Phoenician Casino", if found.

Next, using Windows Explorer, go to C:\PROGRAM FILES\........(right click on your Computer, choose "local disk (C:) )

and delete this entire folder:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\INBOX

Locate this program--> Phoenician Casino and delete it's folder.

Next goto Start Menu > Run > type cleanmgr

click OK

Remove the Temporary Internet Files detected in the initial scan click OK then choose "Yes" on the confirmation window.

Defrag, then reboot/restart your computer.

Let us know if you see any difference in the way your computer is acting now.
