Firefox email links

Many folks using Firefox with the KDE desktop environment and Kmail for their email client may have noticed that clicking email addresses in Firefox, does nothing.

 

This behavior can be changed to open Kmail when you click an email link.

 

This is pretty easy to change.

 

In the Firefox address bar type about:config

 

When it opens right click on an empty space and select New String

 

In the dialog box that opens type network.protocol-handler.app.mailto and hit enter.

 

A new dialog box will open, when it does type kmailservice hit enter.

 

Now close firefox and restart it to make the changes take effect.

 

Click on an email address on a web page and Kmail should open right up with the email address inserted into it.
