Weird Folder on C Drive

Recommended Posts

I was looking in my C drive for something or other, and I saw a hidden folder named:

$$DeleteMe.$$DeleteMe.$$DeleteMe.$$DeleteMe.
$$DeleteMe..01c7ed34710fc344.0000.01c7ed348ff7ccd4.0000.01c7ed375fdc97e8.
0000.01c7ed3e9501ddd2.0000.01c7ed471f746572.0000
(I had to break it up a little to get it to fit).

I did some research on this, but couldn't find much about it at all. I'm sure this wasn't here before.

The folder is completely empty, it just puzzles me.

I did a HijackThis scan and it looked clean, then I scanned my computer with my arsenal of anti-malware programs and got nothing. I'm just wondering what this is.

I'm running M$ Vista Ultimate, if that matters.

Thanks for the help :)

Hiya Simon,

Do you have this program>>?>> http://www.bestsoftware4download.com/softw...d-tnnpvpku.html ? I am thinking this is a file/folder to clean up temp files in Vista. I also found this>

http://www.bestsoftware4download.com/softw...d-tnnpvpku.html I would not worry to much since you ran lots of malware scans, I was trying to find more info, I posted in private forum about vista, I will let you know if anyone has ideas. All I know for now.. :adios:

Nope, I don't have that program. I'm not too worried about malware, just curious about what this is for. Google refuses to include a "$" in a search, so I couldn't find a whole lot of info.

I only went through about 12 pages, so could be even more... maybe a banana is in your Pc., blocking $$ Of course I am just joking . :P:)

$$ google signs works for me though. Odd yours don't.

Tried IE, no different. I did find a site here> http://thevistaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=15832 where they say it's part of Vista. I'm still curious as to why I didn't see it before, or why there is so little information available.

Google does see the $ signs, it just doesn't search for them. For example, if you search for "1$" all you get is results for "1".

Wow, just noticed my post count is 125 posts behind you. Better watch out :P
