porksandwich9113
What size fans? Are they the PSU Fan, or other system fans? With all that the 7900GS came out at 271 Watts, and the 1950XT at 291. The 1950 would be much to close for my liking, however, i personally would be confortable running a 7900GS under that PSU, assuming the rail puts out 20 AMPS. Even though they recommend something higher, it's honestly overkill most of the time. As for the accuracy of this calculator, i determined what PSU i would be getting by plugging in my system specs on it, and it was dead on in terms of what it said, and what my power consumption truely is. IceBear
http://support.gateway.com/s/POWER/102544/102544nv.shtml this is my power supply
porksandwich9113
Herm, i looked at your Pittest, and plugged everything in with a 7900GS, it only came up with a 293 now after the fans, and realized you have 4 DIMMS of ram...what am i missing? And also, plugging in the same set-up with a 8500GT came up with 288. I would say the 7900GS is a go-go. Edited July 12, 2007 by porksandwich9113
IceBear
that is everything and i did the link for my power supply to actally nhere is a better pic of my powersupply tells everything http://www.affordablesurplus.com/bestec-at...ower-supply.asp Edited July 12, 2007 by Lusafis
porksandwich9113
Sadly the crappy gateway sight doesn't tell me the amperage on your rail.. Lol, i can probably figure it out with a model number tho.
IceBear
ok just look at my edited post
porksandwich9113
Just read it. Honestly, i say go order that 7900GS!
porksandwich9113
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150202 I'd go with that one. After the rebate, it's actually the best 7900GS on newegg. Clock speeds kinda kill all the other ones on the site. And it comes with Ghost Recon, for free. (awesome game)
IceBear
can the 7900 play fear and WoW at max settings??? if so then ill get that one =)
porksandwich9113
I know it does wow, i watched my brother do it. As for fear, benchmarks say yes, as long as your not going at a resolution over 1280X1024. The 1950 is better, but i don't know if i would trust that PSU.
IceBear
whats the worse thing it can do if i was to get the 1950pro???
porksandwich9113
Inaduquate power supply could cause anything from random shut downs when a load is being put on a system, instability. Maybe even die, and take another component with it.
IceBear
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130056 so is this one a good card to then??/
porksandwich9113
Yep, it's not bad. The XFX EE one is about 15$ more after the rebate, and has a slightly higher clockspeed. 525/1550-XFX compared to 500/1380 - EVGA
IceBear
ok i order that XFX 7900Gs you said to get hopfully it will get here really soon =) and hope it will work=( should i remove my 2 sticks of 256ram so my powersupply can handel the card???? or just leave it be and pray for it to work =(

porksandwich9113
Herm, you should try uninstalling it through a program like CCleaners function. http://www.ccleaner.com/
