Different users on same computer

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but here goes. I have been helping a friend with her computer for a little bit now and her roommate also has an account on it. What I am wondering is does anyone know how this works? There's been a lot of crap on hers. Is it on the whole computer? Like when I switch to her roommates personal settings, not everything I use on hers, like crap cleaner is not on the others. I know they share the same hard drive. Ok, like I found a porn dialer on hers, I took it off, but will it still be on her roommates personal settings or not. Sorry for the babbling. Do nthey share the same infections? And once cleaned, is it clean from the whole system or just her personal account?

( Very illiterate in thiaa area) Ok, not just in this area but no more info. Thanks so much!!!

I hope someone understands this post and my crazed brain :P

Some things install so both users can use them, some things install so only one user can use it.

The same bit of hard drive is used for both people.

If you uninstall it on one account, it will go on both accounts because you are deleting it from program files which is shared by the users.

IF you go to C:/ in my computer and then documents and settings you will see the 2 accounts. This is really where the difference is and how it all works out.

If you run a full system scan it should pick up any viruses found in either account since it will search all files.

i would post a highjack log.....in the hijackthis forum to be on the safe side ....malware has no boundries ..if anything shows then they will clean you up

download hijackthis and save it to desktop

run it and save log file ...note pad opens

click edit...select all...edit again...copy

open new topic in hijackthis forum and paste your hijack log there

name your topic something like ... porn dialer found in another account

do not respond to your own topic ....that will slow down the help you will recieve

it will appear your getting help...post your hijacklog Here

HijackThis Forum

you will be using hijackthis 1.99

the malware moderaters still use this version

the new version HijackThis 2.0.0 Beta

is being tested

HijackThis 1.99

i know you may have deleted it ...but post it only to be on the safe side....you may have to run blacklight or silent runners...
