andybigfoot2 Posted June 19, 2007 Share Posted June 19, 2007 Hello, I bought a Dell computer about a year ago (big mistake). It has windows media center, but no tv tuner; therefore it has no use. Since I paid extra for windows media center, I no want to buy a tv tuner. Any suggestions for any products? Also, I am wondering, are there any other uses for media center? Also, I don't have much power left due to my new graphics card. I have a Dell with a pretty bad power source, and Im wondering how much power does the tuner take up? My brother told me that a tv tuner is another graphics card. A tv tuner is video input, it's not a video card (though some video cards come with tv tuners). So no, unless your tv tuner is also a video card, they won't conflict. Link to post Share on other sites
Cowboy3000 Posted June 19, 2007 Share Posted June 19, 2007 The Haupaugge PVR 350 will do decoding as well as encoding, but that doesn't really matter since we're not talking about that. The PVR150 takes the input signal and encodes it. It needs the video card to show the video to the monitor, or other display device. Link to post Share on other sites

I know how to install it and put it into my computer, but I don't know what to connect it to. I think I need an antenna or a cable connection. My dad's computer is right next to the router and therefore he can use a splitter to connect his computer to the cable. But me on the other hand, I am on a wireless connection across the house. xXenXx Posted June 23, 2007 Share Posted June 23, 2007 The tv tuner doesn't revolutionize the tv interface, it's just a plug for a normal tv cable. You plug the card in, you plug the cable into the card. Shouldn't have anything to do with the modem. Link to post Share on other sites
