Checking your security

Recommended Posts

A great site for testing your computer. You can have all your ports tested to see if your puter is in stealth mode, leak test your firewall and many other tests. Did you know that if you run only the firewall in XP that it will not stop anything from getting out. It's an inbound firewall only. Check out this site. I have used it for many years.

Now in the good old days Bruce would say something here :D

I understand that this is an OLD thread but I have a question based on that website... I did the tests and for some reason my computer does not have ANY firewall it says. I had a Windows based one (stock) on it but now I show there is nothing. All I run now for security is AVG and I update it automatically everyday. I'd appreciate any free programs to add a new firewall on my computer and any other security programs. Basically I use this computer for internet browsing, downloading music, some work and little gaming.

Thanks for any information or help here!

Hi Shawn,

I answered this in "user to user" forum, but here goes again> As far as a firewall, get this one, free> http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ It's way better than the windows firewall. Or this one> http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,...escription.html Both, free an better than the Windows firewall.

Choose only one, you can not have 2 software firewalls running at the same time. if you get one of those disable the windows firewall.
