I recently bought a gateway fx8020 and it is a total POS. :dead-horse: I'm taking it back to Best Buy as soon as I build my own. I don't know much about building computers but it can't be that hard to do. Money is not a consideration. I'm permanently disabled and set for life. I want to build the fastest gaming computer money can buy and am looking for suggestions on which motherboard, graphics card(s), power supply, and so on. So the question to all of you out there who have built your own computers is if money were no object, what would you get?

if money isn't an option i would get a quad with 4gigs of ram, evga 680i, 4x74gig raptors and a modded case.

Go for the 150gb raptors. And quads are very cheap now. I would also get 2 video cards in sli. Can't forget water cooling and a pimped out case. Edited by Simonsells91

Thanks for the ideas. I've been doing a little research.

That last list looks very good. The 680i motherboard is one that I've been considering. Would that work with a core 2 extreme (qx6800) instead? As I said I'm not concerned about the price because I will be spending most of my time on the computer. And which is better, the radeon 1950x or the nvidia 8800 gtx? I'm only using one monitor, an lg flatron m3201c-ba but I may get another one.

Vapo Chill if you want the exotic

With that Vapochill...I don't think Lou was talking about your tiny $ 40.99 VapoChill MICRO, ineedhelpregularly21 ....LOL

I think he was more thinking like this: VapoChill LS

If money doesn't matter, this would kinda be the best aftermarket cooling you can get! LOL...But if you decide to buy this, b0r3dinmadt0wn, you'll have to get into/learn overclocking.....and you came to the right place for that here!!

Good luck! Prof. Dr. Silver

How about the Striker extreme, C2E qx6800, 4gb crucial ddr2 pc8500 @ 1000Mhz, 2 8800 gtx cards, an Auzentech X-Meridian sound card, Thermaltake Armor LCS tower, Koolance 1200 Watt Liquid-Cooled Power Supply, 1 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 750gb hdd, ASUS Black LightScribe DVD Burner. Anything I'm forgetting? I have a 2000w stereo to hook it up to.

I won a lawsuit cause I got hit in the head with a backhoe 3 years ago. I will never have to worry about money again. My plan is to start a business building gaming systems for people who just don't have the right mindset for building computers
